My favorite way of learning is by doing short challenges, thus the past 30 days of writing. Although I've really enjoyed it, I've decided to continue mostly due to the lack of diversity I’ve seen.
Being more present on LinkedIn made me notice how the space of engineering leadership voices is not diverse at all.
For example, there are very few women posting regularly about leadership.
Almost weekly someone compiles a list of people and newsletters to follow, at best there are 2 women on the list.
Why is this a problem for me personally?
Most of the advice coming from people who’ve had more privilege than I, does not work for me.
My world has different rules, guidelines and obstacles.
It has all sorts of glass walls and ceilings.
Becoming the better at something needs to also deal with breaking some glass.
Sometimes it means becoming better than better.
This is why I love coaching. As the more people learn to see the invisible glass, the more people can help break it.
What was a glass ceiling you’ve encountered?
