The Game

17.12.2025

It doesn't matter how smart you are. How much experience you have. Or how many degrees you have.

If you are not playing the networking game, you are selling yourself short. You are making it hard for people to help you! You are slowing your career growth.

The game is NOT:

  • going to every meetup in town
  • talking to everybody about anything
  • spending hours on social media

‍

The game is:

  • understanding that people need to know of you long before you need something from them ( like a job referral )
  • learning in public, share with others what you are learning and why you are learning it
  • commenting, asking questions, interacting online, at in person events, at work .. networking is about building relationships

‍

πŸ“£ Most opportunities in life come through networking.

For a cool job where many apply to, the CV's are ranked based on referrals.

Someone who has something to give knows about you being the best fit for it. Either from their experience or someone they trust sponsored you.

πŸ“ Get on people's radar!

πŸš€ Be intentional about it.

Do you want to speak at local event? Start attending local events and talk to the organizers.

Do you want to change jobs? Attend a relevant conference. If you cannot afford the ticket, then volunteer!

🧰 Treat networking like just another tool to get your thing done.

The more you network the easier it gets.

With networking you don't only help yourself, but you help others too!

Start small!
